National Parks

Canada has fairly comprehensive regulations about taking domestic cats into National Parks.

Unless authorized by a permit, a cat can not be kept in a national park for more than 30 days.

Furthermore, your cat can not be taken into a national park if it has an infectious disease, or a disease that is dangerous to humans or animals.

You must be in control of your cat to ensure:

  • it does not chase or injure any people or animals

  • it does not become a nuisance

  • it does not access any area where it is prohibited

You must also ensure that you pick up any faecal matter deposited by your cat.

It is recommended that you keep your cat on a leash that is less than 1.8 meters long.
