We asked her mum, Lauren, to tell us all about her.

How did Phoenix come into your family?

Phoenix was adopted from a fostering agency named Pet Paws in Southern California.

Tell us the story behind Phoenix's name?

Phoenix’s name was originally decided on based on the Greek myth of the Phoenix, a mythical bird that built its own pyre and then was reborn from the ashes.

Phoenix’s name is symbol of hope, strength, and remembrance that with any hardship can come rebirth to something new and beautiful.

It is, also, a nod to the X-men Jean Grey/Phoenix character role.

Her middle name is Amadeus, which means “love God” and is, also, a nod to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

What is your Phoenix's favourite thing to do?

Phoenix’s favorite thing to do is follow her cat mama around, cuddling, and catnaps.

What kind of adventures does Phoenix like to go on?

Phoenix comes along with her mama on hikes on top of mountains, riverbeds, as well as around the neighborhood.

Phoenix’s favorite places are those with calm waters and little people - she can tell who are friends and who are strangers.

Tell us about your most memorable adventure.

One of Phoenix’s most memorable adventures was to the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles, CA.

Why did you decide to train Phoenix?

I trained Phoenix to be a catexplorer because I wanted her to be able to see the world, come with me anywhere needed, and to help create a more adaptable personality for her.

How did you train Phoenix?

Phoenix started adventuring around the backyard and on walks in the neighborhood with Mama as a kitten. She then started getting used to a harness over time and following mama on a leash when outside.

What has been the most rewarding part of having a catexplorer?

I’m so happy I can bring Phoenix along with me to make memories and explore the world with a strong bonded, close companion.

In hindsight, what would you do differently?

I would bring her outside even more often!

What advice would you give other humans training their catexplorers?

Be patient - it takes awhile.

Also, let the kitties outside as much as possible to get them used to the sounds and car rides.

What are your favourite products for your catexplorer?

Cat backpack(s) and Feline Greenies, her favorite treats!

Is there another catexplorer that inspires you?
