Walter (or Walt for short) is a kitty whose adventures have helped foster an amazing bond with his humans.

Walt’s top three things are probably:

Hide and seek with Dad
Snuggles with Mom
Adventuring the great outdoors (of course!)

His favorite food is Turkey and his favorite toy is a hair tie with a ribbon tied to it (simple, yet effective)

What kind of adventures does Walt like to go on?

Walter likes hiking, backpacking, road trips, and camping.

We are taking a trip to Mom’s hometown in Minnesota soon, so we are hoping to try out some water adventures soon (stay tuned)!

Tell us about your most memorable adventure.

We have so many amazing memories!

But I think our favorite trip we have gone on so far is to White Sands National Monument. It was Walter’s first overnight camping trip in a tent and playing in the beautiful white sand dunes was fun for all!

Why did you decide to train Walt?

We both enjoy being outdoors and typically try to spend all of our free time exploring.

When we got Walter we couldn’t stand to leave him alone while we were off on adventures... so a catexplorer was born!

How did you train Walter?

Luckily Walter had a natural affinity for the outdoors since he was a kitten, so that came easy.

However, we took baby steps getting him used to his harness, then going on walks, then short car rides, and so on...

What has been the most rewarding part of having a catexplorer?

Getting to spend more time with my favorite cat and the bond it created between him and I.

What has been the hardest?

Seeing him sit by the door when we leave thinking he is going to come on a hike with us...

But honestly, we have had just a really great experience so far.

In hindsight, what would you do differently?

Take him on more walks and start the day we brought him home!

What advice would you give other humans training their catexplorers?

Absolutely do it. As long as your cat enjoys being outdoors and is healthy enough to do so, I would 1000% recommend it.
